Pete and the Pirates - One Thousand Pictures

Raramente hacemos referencia a discos aquí, es cierto, pero esta vez vale la pena, ¡os lo prometo! Pete and the Pirates irrumpían en el 2008 con el hitazo "Mr understanding" perteniente a su álbum de debut "Little Death" (Stolen Recordings). En él encontrábamos a una banda que seguramente no pasará a la historia por inventar la salsa brava, pero que te promete alegrar unas cuantas tardes de verano.

Pues aquí tenemos el de este año: "One Thousand Pictures", su nuevo trabajo recién salido del horno. Uno de esos discos que no te deja pasar a la siguiente canción sin haber acabado la anterior. Adictivo, lleno de canciones redondas y superproducidas trabajadas melodías, desde medios tiempos britpop a algún coqueteo con la electrónica, hasta esa genial despedida llamada "Half Moon Street".

Su último single, "United" con un bajo que recuerda a.. oh "Felt Tip" de Love is All otra vez! (que por cierto, suena a Kim Deal), es otra gran canción para el repertorio de los londinenses, y ya son unas cuantas...

It's true that we rarely talk about albums here, but this one worths it, I promise! Pete and the Pirates bursted in 2008 via tunage "Mr understanding" from their debut album "Little Death" (Stolen Recordings). We found there a band that surely will not be remembered for inventing the brava sauce, but they'll cheer up some evenings in the summer.

So here we are this year: "One Thousand Pictures", is their sophomore effort, just out of the oven. One of those albums that prevent you to skip a track without finishing the one before. Addictive, full of perfect songs and overproduced well-crafted melodies, from britpop midtempos to some electronic flirtings, until reaching that great goodbye called "Half Moon Street".

Their latest single, "United" got a bassline that recalls.. oh Love is All's "Felt Tip" once again! (that by the way sounds like Kim Deal), despite is another great song in the Londoners' collection, and they've got several already...
