Hej igen!

Back to the living, I ran into the fact that X-Wife's new album is coming up. There was this launch party & concert (scroll down)... I'm looking forward for it to come out. Check out the single On the radio!

What's more, I revisited the black cab sessions. Great concept leading to a nice environment... sh*t, that's cool stuff.

And now for something completely different, I went here and that made me finally pay attention to De La Soul's Say No Go lyrics. That's powerful stuff.. it made me think about this; any other ideas?

I have to go, but I don't want to leave without mentioning some remnants of Sweden. So here you have some guys that were at the Propaganda festival, bob hund, and some other that I really enjoy listening too (when in most moods). Oh, and this great concert at Gröna Lund, Stockholm... The Hives really kick a**.

Flight of the Conchords -TV series

There are two series that got me right now: one is the.. legen... Wait for it!... dary! How I Met Your Mother, for those who didn't know it yet, it is so-called the new Friends. The other one is a bit more "underground" and it is called Flight Of The Conchords. Our beloved Zé "Panzão" (abraço!) discovered to me this piece of gold, that tells the story about two, typical nerds, losers... whatever you call it, from New Zealand.. and I've got nothing against newzealanders, I actually love you guys! it's just that these ones are particulary like that.
Why am I talking about series in this blog? Easy! FOTC funny stories tell about these guys trying to success (and survive) in NY city as a music band with the help of their horrible manager, their one and only fan (I meant groupie), and their American friend. The typical nerd issues such as (never) getting girls, their quirky habits and especially the music, with at least two stupid but great videoclips per episode, are the driving force of this jewel.
Get it now if you didn't do it yet! You won't regret! Get ready for big laughs and become a new fan of them, it's just a question of time... By the way! one of them, Jemaine has a really funny movie as well, Eagle vs. Shark.
Big up for the nerds!

Right here, right now

You must already have the melody on your head, Fatboy Slim a.k.a. Norman Cook a.k.a Mighty Dub Katz, Freakpower and bassist of the 80s pop-rock band The Housemartins is coming to town tonight and after about 10 years I'm gonna watch him for the first time and I am not so excited as I should... Last time I tried to see him, I think it was in 2002, he got too drunk the day before that he had to remain in the hospital the night he had to be on the decks...
I've mentioned several times "You've come along way, baby", besides the Internet explosion with Napster, Audiogalaxy and so on, was the album that made me feel interested in real music. No more radio tapes with the few songs I liked from the awful Spanish radio stations... fuck'em..
This lad got some of the best videoclips, most original and awarded in the last decade. Some people claimed he was the best dj in the world for some years, and I still consider him one of my biggest influences. His sets around 1997-1999 were an amazing mix of big beat, funk, pop, rock, electronic and house. His 2 first albums and early remixes are also present in several mixes of mine. Later on he moved a little bit into house alive and a bit more chill and quirky on production, a kind of evolution that never brought him back to the emporium. So, a little bit of this and a a little bit of that! Here you have some more tunes.. I think I would never finish this post...
Fatboy Slim - Santa Cruz - from his debut album, epic track, chill with dirty break beats.. that was 1997
Fatboy Slim - Soul Surfin' - he was "the man in every commercial" and here you can listen..
Freddie Fresh with Fatboy Slim - Badder badder schwing
Mighty Dub Katz - Let The Drums Speak - this is 10/10 happy music
Fatboy Slim feat. Lateef - Wonderful Night - one of the last great tracks of him
Fatboy Slim - Don't let the man get you down - someone would like to kill me if I say this sounds like a 00's Loaded, did I?
And some remixes:
Cornershop - Brimful of Asha (Norman Cook Remix)
Wildchild - Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Old Skool Mix)
Beastie Boys - Body Movin' (Fatboy Slim Remix)

Come on! Now I'm starting to feel like dancing...
