Music Festivals (part 1) - FIB 2009

Proposals for summer are already popping up on everyone's conversation. And what is better than a summer festival? I mean, put together these thousand girls and boys 100% hormonically loaded, give them a big space, full of fun and sun, day 'n' nite, the lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite... And what if we mix it up along some of the best music acts of the last years?

FIB which stands for Festival Internacional de Benicàssim, is one of the most important festivals in Spain and Europe, and definitely a classic after 15 years. Just today I received an e-mail from the organization claiming there are only 1000 tickets with camping access left day-tickets left - Glastonbury's sold out too by the way-.

Britpop legends Oasis lead the line-up, about 60% done right now, along mainstream let's call it indie rock bands The Killers and Kings Of Leon and the coolest band in the world Franz Ferdinand. Other remarkable shows are The ("new") Horrors', indie favorites TV On The Radio, 2008's sensations Late of The Pier, Glasvegas and Lykke Li, Spaniards CatPeople and Nacho Vegas, the electronic sessions/showcases by Boys Noize, Peaches, Laurent Garnier, Gui Boratto, or Yuksek, the controversial Lily Allen, we are the mods Paul Weller and 70's post-punk outfit Magazine.

I probably told you about this festival a thousand of times, but it is just massive in every kind of way and it deserves the hype. FIB's got a cool camping area with nice restricted-hot-water showers, a huge beach nearby where you can toast yourself (the week after you'll be totally black), and a young ambience rounding the twenties with a lot of English people having orange juice at 5 in the morning.

And if you appreciate music, you will just love it. By the way, it takes you another week to recover yourself, but it's just worth it. Tickets here
