Because we are your friends...

It all started with a slow down, some repetition of a beat, and boom... Disco! Filtered dirty electro tunes, ABBA, more disco, craziness, more repetition, some classics, and of course Justice... Great end of a session, doing what they do know to do best... This was the ending sequence:
Zongamin - Bongo Song
Tepr - Minuit jacuzzi (DatA remix)
Justice - Let there be light
Boys Noize - &Down
Klaxons - Golden skans to Interzone(So Me Remix)
Justice vs. Simian - Never Be Alone
then..I don't remember and then the end
And for few seconds we couldn't get our t-shirts signed... but who cares? Great stuff...

Primavera, first contact

Good night!
Today Primavera sound (a music festival in Barcelona) started, well there were just 2 or 3 bands playing today. The main events will be this weekend and, of course, I will be attending to all lives I can in just three days and next week I'll talk about how they went, and which bands you may watch in the case you have any chance to do it :)

Until then, what I'm going to do is just recommend those bands (with a flag ship song for each one of them) that are going to play in that nice festival.

First of all I want to recommend an artist from the land where the festival is taking place, well, she's not from Barcelona but from Madrid, his former name as a "band" is Russian Red, yeah I know what are you thinking by looking at the photos from her myspace: "Oh! Holy shit another 'Gafapasta' with those unkindly glasses", I just advice you at least to listen one of their songs, she just launched his first CD (I think) this year, and I have to say it is one of the best new things I heard lately. His voice makes me come to mind some names such as Joanna Newsom and Pj Harvey and I assure that you won't notice that she's Spanish by her accent. So give it a try and listen her flags songs that I may say that they are: Cigarettes or No past land

The other band I'm going introduce (if you do not already know them, WTF were you doing?) is a USA band which I may say that with just 2 CD's out they joined my "must" list and they are one of the new bands that I enjoy more, specially lately I can't stop to listen their 2 CD's. Their name is Menomena and they play a strange alternative rock somehow similar to Wolf Parade or Islands that lately is some of the music I'm enjoying more. I'm really excited about going to watch them and see what can they give me :)
It's a really hard decission to choose a flag ship, but if I had to choose one maybe I would say: Rotten Hell

See you soon space cowboys...

Sweden rocks!

Sweden, what do you think about when you hear that word? Ok, a typical answer could be blondes, Abba, Eurovision, maybe football, IKEA,...

Before coming here, hopefully I was aware that music didn't end up in Abba, Ace of Base or Roxette! Mando Diao and The Hives were some of my favourite bands and that was another reason to come here, for me a music maniac...

I've been thinking about making a kind of Swedish soundtrack for the days I've been here, with all these songs we have listened in the clubs, radio, or just in our computer and has something related to this country.
I think, now I have focused on my idea and I'm gonna do a set of posts with some of these songs. You are welcome to do it too ;)

This one is dedicated to my favourite songs. So, here I go:

Moneybrother - Down at the R
Another summer song coming from the swedes, I just don't understand why it didn't become single, it cheers me up as hell anytime I listen to it. Next! **UPDATED: Well, this one feels kinda guilty after listening to David Bowie's "Sound and vision". Maybe that's why it was never released as a single.

Lykke Li - Breaking it up
Something quiet. I thought about doing a remix of this one, cause I think it's got potential to make a more danceable version, but I finally didn't...

Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (Mr. Miyagi Remix)
Mr. Miyagi made our nights several times, and this song is always welcome for a hooligan like me (and you).

Veronica Maggio - Måndagsbarn
It sounds like a Swedish Lily Allen, nice to check lyrics and practice your elementary Swedish.

Shout Out Louds - Impossible
Favourite band of my Swedish mentor student. I love this tune and the remix too, probably my song for the first two months in here. **UPDATED: This one feels kinda guilty as well after listening to Love is All's Felt Tip.

Vi ses!

Ready for the Jam session

Hi

Thanks for invite me to the blog.

In a few minutes I'm going to a Jam Session in "Blue Monk Cafe" in a city near Barcelona. Because that my first song is a Jazz track "Yamandu Costa- Disparada". Yamandu Costa is a great brazilian guitar jazz musician. He mix bossa, samba and diverse styles.

The next song is "Tom waits- Innocent when you dream". This artist come to show in Barcelona in 14-15 of june. This is the first time you can see Tom Waits in spain. The price of the tickets is very expensive (100 or 125€).

To finish I wanna recommend a music web: musicovery.

Unsigned yankees

Hangover...
no energy for anything more than clicking...damned Ramazzotti (both the singer and the drink..)
i found my self immersed in the infinite universe of links between myspaces of music bands
an incredible amount of music that can bring you to discover something cool or just waste a huge amount of time however, browsing trough myspaces i discovered this unsigned band friends of MGMT...
i don't know if they will ever get big or if i ever hear them again..however this single is definitely my song of the day and it can be a cool song in a playlist, if you can find it..
The video is a live but sound quality is reasonable

Song of the day: Boy Crisis - Dressed to Digress
weird singer, great bass, a hint of guitar and electro sound.
not bad for today...

It's saturday, saturday!

I must admit that probably this time I've been a bit lazy selecting the songs... I almost picked the first rock songs that I saw, but still worth the check out, trust me ;)

Song of the day: Blood Red Shoes - Say something, say anything
Addicted to this song during these last two months it kinda reminds me of At The Drive-In with a British filter.

Swedish song of the day (& flashback): The Caesar's - Jerk it out
Yeah, the summer is almost here! Let's take our surf boards and have a girl! The Caesar's (formerly Caesar's Palace) are a Swedish band with nice singles. Check some other stuff from these guys.

Tonight, Belle & Sebastian Dj's @ IndieRave?

About Ellen Allien

Hej! This is my first post in my life! and I hope not the last!
Wasting my time... I find that: Golden Boy with Miss Kittin-Rippin Kittin (Ellen Allien Remix)
It's a pity can't listen all... but i hope this will be a sample of tonight....

c u soon!

Friday night, to the club

Song of the day: Boys Noize - Shine-Shine (AC Slater Remix)
Tonight, Ellen Allien is playing at Esque and we're in... From Germany comes Boys Noize as well, who will be playing tonight in my hometown at guess where? This remix by Saved by the bell's AC Slater, featured on the Streetlife dj's Essential Mix gives that something that was missing on the original mix. We still don't forget about Skrapan's classic Feist remix...

Randomness

Yo!
I'm Ribo, Italian, living in Sthlm and part of the fresh stuff music addicts.
Music background: Random
My first song of the day had to come randomly as pretty much everything in this period if not i would have spend probably 3 days finding it, and then having the problem of finding three more...
However Random is the word of the month..
Shuffle is a great invention and walking around the streets of Sthlm , especially when it's sunny, is the perfect ecosystem to listen to random songs
so cutting the crap my suggestion is..
Song of the day: MGMT - Kids
Cool band and cool song, relaxing at the right level, but with a hint of electro beat that is always needed in this era of crazy overlapping and mixing.
Catchy and sticky to the ear.
The video is definitely random as well. Check it out

1,2,3.4!

Hi ya! This is our first post! :)
From Freshtuff we'll try to bring you those tracks are pumping our stereos, catchy tunes, daily essentials, songs of the week, month, year, flashbacks, videos, stupid top 10s and all that stuff... Ya'll ready for this?

Song of today: Shakes - Sister Self Doubt
Here it is a live performance from Shakes. I've rescued this song today while digging on my mp3s and it sounded very good right after waking up. I've heard it for the first time some time ago on last year's "Modular Presents... Leave Them All Behind Vol.2", a compilation that includes some of the best tracks from 2006 and 2007.

Video of the week: Justice @ Radio 1 Big Weekend
Yes! Justice are coming to Stockholm! Just yesterday night, Simone told me how much he would pay to see Justice alive (inaudible) and voila! Today I got an email saying they are coming next week!
This is only the first part (out of 4) of the set they played for Radio 1 some weeks ago. M.a.s.s.i.v.e. set!

Band of the week: Sonny J
Think of freaky sound, Kill bill, The Go! Team, The Avalanches, The Jacksons... Who's in the back Sonny J? Maybe Danger Mouse?

Y sigue bien, happy happy!
