Song of the Month: Lightspeed Champion - Midnight Sunrise
This is just the radio edit, the original version lasts about 10 minutes... and no waste in any of them. A pure pop gem for 2008 from Lightspeed Champion, new project from ex-Test Icicles'(disbanded) Devonte Hynes, with a more relaxed and softer sound, nearer Belle & Sebastian than the Klaxons.
Hope you enjoy it comrades!

Changes
People say life goes on, and yeah, I think they're right somehow...
Today it is midsommar over here, one of these holidays in Sweden to celebrate the coming of the summer. Although I should be working in my thesis, this is one of these days that you can't miss!
As you shouldn't miss the next suggestions... Weezer is back to business, and it seems they're back for good (I'm not gonna link Take That...). Their first single got released a couple of monts ago, and now the album is already on the stores. Great song to start an album:
Weezer - Troublemaker
Another great start, is new Ratatat's which is being on my mp3 this week as well, and climbing positions on my last.fm charts. Epic track, no beat, just music, a soundtrack-like tune.
Ratatat - Schiller
Now, one of those tunes we've been hearing lately in the clubs -choreography of dj playing the drums included- comes from megaband Machines Don't Care, in this case starring Hervé (a.k.a. The Count a.k.a. Voodoo Chili a.k.a...) & Sinden. So, for all you electro-haters you've been already warned, crazy stuff..
Machines Don't Care - Afrojacker
So, we've done some changes, added a links' section where you can post all those websites you think interesting and we also would like to encourage all that people who's watching behind and didn't write anything yet to do it! We don't want to monopolize the blog and we're eager to see their stuff, fresh stuff.
Have a great weekend! Love!

Primavera, can go and please don't go
Yeah yeah yeah, two weeks later I finish my review about Primavera Sound, how lazy I am.
Anyway I think I can say some things so you don't miss at all when going to a concert expecting more of what some artists can be.
I'll start with go if you like them, which bands are here, all those about I expected more or less and they gave me just what I expected of them.
It means that while Porstishead was ok since I don't care too much about them I don't listen them at my home altough I like some of their songs, my friend (who came with me) likes them and he really enjoyed that live (one of his favourite concerts) , I enjoyed very much Menomena concert because I knew all their songs and they played really good, but not as good as to say that I expected less from them and I would be angry if they did it worse. By the way there were more artists who did pretty good and I enjoyed their lives: Silver Jews, he threw t-shirts to public, he was the only one who did it, Cat Power with a very good musicians as companions, well I have to say I don't like her songs too much, I think they are all the same, but her live is very good, I enjoyed it and if you are a fan you'd get mad :)
Let's start with things I advice you not to go, and my reasons:
First let's start with all those bands that for me have a lack of spirit, all those bands that without heard anything before you go to their live it already sounds as if you already heard all their discography, just because they just sound like another well-known band that you already heard, most of them to Franz Ferdinand, but with the lack of fresh and originality the well-known band has (or had, fuck Interpol last album), most of them built by the major labels to sell as much copies as they can and their songs are made just to rip off other band so they don't have any "heart" at all, and although most of the people maybe don't notice it I assure you I do, specially when they play just like if the are working, to who did you sell your souls, guys?. If I want to listen Bloc Party I listen Bloc Party, these bands were: British Sea Power, Vampire Weekend and The Rumble Strips
Besides the ones I said before, please, don't go to: Scout Niblett, maybe the worst live I've seen in a lot of time, it was weird how their singer played guitar and how much holes exist in their performance, Health, I don't really understand what's the point of this band maybe someone finds it and MGMT, their absolute power lack and poor performance, as well as their short possibilities playing instruments stunned me, I really expected much more from them, I like some of their songs, but they weren't more than a bunch of kids fooling around with a slogan in their face saying like: "Hey! Look at me, how cool I am touring with a band and fucking with nice girls", this is ok as long as you play quite good and they didn't, they finished singing Kids like in a karaoke, really weird for that song and public.
Well that's all, I expect not to offend anyone they are just my opinions.
To end two great videos: Invasion and Explosions
Sorry for sound quality but all them are from Primavera lives.

The start of the week (and the end of the last one)
My iTunes was pretty fanciful today and after I did skip some tracks, it came to this:
Song of the day (Flashback): Pulp - Monday morning
One of the gems of 1995's classic "Different Class" by Pulp.
I think this week is gonna be quite busy. It should be if I don't want to be cut in my legs by my teacher...
Last Saturday we checked the action in Stockholm, but we forgot our camera at home... You know, maybe not the most responsible reporters were in that event, but at least we can say we lived it... and it was great ;)
So, summary: children, Sahara HOTnights, beer, football, families, great Queens of the stone age, and the best.. The Hives. More details, coming up...
Kanelbulle is waiting now for me in the oven, so I gotta go!

The Action Is Here
I got back from university and I only felt like posting... And also like an idiot for being part of the minority that is still working indoors while the amazing Swedish summer goes by!
But well well well!! Where is the action this weekend?? Yeah, that's right: W.T.A.I, the answer couldn't be other. Stora skuggan, stora banden. I already got my ticket, and the heaven looks like this:
Queens of the stone age(plz check out this video) (dead link)
The Hellacopters
The Hives
Dirty pretty things
Mando Diao
Foo Fighters
And MANY more...
************************************************************************
Song of the day: "The widow" from The Mars Volta (a mainstream song, ezy)
oooooooooooooooooWanna learn more? click here for more action.
Second song of the day (cause hey, one is not enough): "Where is my mind?" from Pixies
************************************************************************
... a little worried that this dream will soon be over... i'm having the time of my life!
Well boys, B GOOD!

What was Primavera Sound?
I know that it had happen two weeks ago, but I was busy so I couldn't write down what I learned at Primavera Sound, so I'm doing it, right now...
I have to say that there wasn't too much people so I could see all concerts from a really good position and very comfortable :D. I'm going to put all concerts I've seen in try categories: "go if you can, at any cost", "go if you like or if you have nothing else to do" and "avoid it if you can". And listed from better to worse in each category and I'll do it in different posts since there is a lot of info to explain.
"go if you can, at any cost"
And the Oscar goes to The Go! Team, I already like them before go to their live and I have to recognize that I was kinda afraid that they wouldn't sound as good as in CD, not only they showed they play as good as on the studio but even with more vitality (well, I may say that's normal on live), no one could refuse to jump with 'em playing along hit after hit. They finished with a new song and the result was that I'll have to check out next EP/LP.
Second in my opinion were Explosions in the sky, they were as good as I expected and I was somehow melted in a trace while they were playing their long themes all along. Who wonders what happened if they played on the Auditorium? I would pay a lot of money for that.
Bon Iver played on the Auditorium and I was impressed so much for his powerful lyrics-voice, maybe one of the best lives I've seen lately, really good musicians playing along a really good arranged music, at the end he came out and talked to those who wanted to talk with him.
Enon, it reminded me somehow to Sonic Youth playing some a little bit faster, lot of power spent to make me feel some nice noise, really good trio with boy and girl voice turning in the songs.
Holy Fuck, for those who like to party as much as me, if these guys stops near to your city go dance with 'em. Their concert finished with all public jumping and a stage invasion, it was their last song fault (song of the festival, like "we are your friends" past year ;) ): Lovely Allen
Kinski and Dinosaur Jr. 1 2 3(videos from Primavera Sound concert) both of them in that rock that walks in the middle of 80's and 90's Rock metamorphosis, Kinski maybe little bit more powerful in their riffs that made people remember old times in the pit (oh! my dear 18's), of course J.Mascis did an 8minutes perfect solo to demo that he is god playing guitar.
Russian Red, she sings as good as in studio and I think this is enough to give her a try and go to her live if you can, I assure you that you won't regret it.
See you soon space cowboys...

The Pussies are back!
Fuck men! Many people writing and what I am doing with my life? I'm glad people is taking part in Fresh stuff, and expanding it into different views. Great stuff and loots of love!
Now it is for me time to meet old friends while some others are already back home. We miss you guys! So, I'd like to go on with the Swedish music topic (vol. 2) and as the weekend is just here, I'd like to introduce the "party in Sweden" topic.
Don't take it as my favourite tunes' list, it isn't. So don't mind about if it is good or not, just take it as a way to remember those good times. I'll also avoid other tunes I mentioned before that could perfectly fit on this list. Here we go...
Gambitero stuff, so music we've heard in The Fuse, Ace, Kollingsborg, 2:35:1, Konstig Klubb and all those crazy parties:
Robin S vs Steve Angello & Laidback Luke - Show Me Love /Be (Everywhere)
Daft Punk - Harder, better, faster, stronger
Federico Franchi - Cream
Maskinen - Alla som inte dansar
Buy Now - Body Crash
Radioclit - Divine Gosa (Switch Remix) ("crazy")
Pryda - Pjanoo
Mango Bar Ace indie floor meets Babasonic / Debaser / Bonden Bar...
The Tough Alliance - First Class Riot (bounce & sing with the Swedes)
The Smiths - This Charming man (they love'em)
Slagsmålsklubben - Övningsköra :)
The Coral - Dreaming of you (hold somebody's hand and dance to this)
Jens Lekman - You are the light (de älskar honom)
The Ronettes - Be my baby (classic)
The dark side, also known as Café Bojan...
Basshunter - Boten Anna (n/c)
Paradisio - Bailando (first time I heard this in my life was there)
Yves Larock - Rise up (so high)
Culture beat - Mr. Vain (shake it)
Kaoma - Lambada (wanna dance, gata?)
The Baywatch Theme (go up the chair and sing it, Zé ;)
Have fun and see you soon!

F**kin no sleep night
I wish i was doing something else, instead I'm here working on f**kin project for my f**kin last course. (loser!)
However it's my f**kin last night of work!!
anger is gone and so I'm listening to some Swedish "pussies music" (citation from Lucas 3,14) while working.
It's awesome to see the sun rising, or better to see the non really darkness becoming brighter at 2 30...and realize that you are f**ked because it's already tomorrow..
O Berna..I'm going crazy too..
It seems like you never end the day..it's like a loop..24h day..
However cutting the crap..
Tonight my working skills incremented so much due to a discover (now you are asking why if i had to work I'm writing this post...well it's the same question I'm making myself and it has no clear answer so far..) you definitely have heard him in this electro pop success with Robyn, With every heartbeat.
Kleerup is a swedish "artist" (dj, singer..i have no idea) that wasn't so far in any of my playlist, but tonight man..you made it.
The song of this everlasting day is: Kleerup ft. Lykke Li - Until We Bleed
I started liking Lykke Li and this electro touch is very smooth and definitely working.
Check out some other stuff like Chords and Thank you for nothing.
It's always a pleasure to share all this with you music addicts,
Stay fresh! yo!

Lasted too long
Having signed up for this flabbergasting blog sometime ago, it has become long overdue that I get out of the shadow and say something. However, before doing so, I should post a warning about my feeble mental health, for which I am not responsible - gosh, it's night at 10PM and day at 3AM?! Any coherence in my words is therefore pure coincidence.
Let me begin with #41 where sometimes Dave is joined by Tom alone (I can testify that). I could then go back to #07 but lately a song has been in my head : "The Build Up" by Kings of Convenience. There's a feeling of disappointment and indecision in both the melody and the lyrics that I find enticing. And then, the Princess of Convenience makes it even better.
Switching to a nationalist mood, here are a couple of songs from Portugal
- X-Wife rocks! These Porto guys opened Arctic Monkeys @ Lisbon last summer... Ping Pong Realize Rockin' Rio
- The Gift OK! Do you want something simple? Waterskin
- Ornatos Violeta Dia Mau Dama do Sinal and Pluto Só mais um começo
- Blasted Mechanism is peculiar, peculiar, peculiar! Blasted Empire Karkov (Nadabrovitchka Mix)
Me, I'm also different in musical taste. But as Leon said, our differences just make this experience better.
Must... go... back... to... work... peace!

Not Just Pussies
Hi everybody! thx for the invitation to this wonderful initiative. My name is Lucas I'm from Barcelona. My musical background and taste are a little different from those from my mates here, and i think that's good for the case. The more, the better.
Sweden it's not just pussies that play happy music, and I want to show you the harder part of it (of Sweden) : macho-virile hard rock bands (and I write this with one hand on my balls), so delight yourself with "New Noise" from Refused från Umeå. A classic of svenskt hardcore... They'd rather be alive...
And of course i HAVE TO mention and promote the mighty WOLFMOTHER.
Influences from Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Kyuss (one of my beloved stoner rock bands) among others. Short and intense is their life in public. Just check this out! And in order not to deceive the electro minded people, here goes the MSTRKRFT REMIX of Woman. Great song, great mix and... great dance dude...
and that's all for today folks! i hope you enjoyed it

A day in the basement
Today, like in a hack meeting, there was an assembling of computers in my room, Little Italy, and everyone was putting music while working.
Willy was pushing some Queens of the stone age, while i was still a lot into some totally nordic made track by Sigur Ros and suddendly i was awaken from my computer trance by Crocoman's choice.
Sorry but i have to steal it...
I wasn't listening to nothing from them since Red alert and Where's your head at?
They are Basement Jaxx and this is my choice for today
Song of the day : Adele- Cold Shoulder (Basement Jaxx remix)
Ok it's not their song, but the remix has definitely their strong mark.
Great rhytm, perfect for today's mood.
enjoy it.
Yours always,
Ribo

Teddybears STHLM
Swedish group.. this song for me is great, Punkrocker with Iggy Pop.
Is that is my feeling during this ten days. We listen (croco & ribo & me) to Ellen Allien, Justice, and some cool music...
See You Soon
PD: Thanks Croco for mixing in our last party... was great
When Sweden meets Usa
A nice Swedish sunny day, a nice Swedish singer, a good Brooklyn made beat and Chicago mash-uppers.
No more words to say, but just a nice song that is definitely gonna be in my playlist soon (as soon as i find it
a nice song to start this crazy month here in Sthlm.
Song of the day: The Hood Internet - I'm Good, I'm Ghost (Lykke Li vs Holy Ghost)
The hood internet has some cool other mash-ups check them out!
P.S. summer is sweden is something that has to be experienced in life...
